Introduction to BJIAS

Beijing International Arts School is a public secondary art school accredited by Beijing Education Committee and it is the only art school that has the qualifications to recruit foreign students and hire foreign experts. In the year of 2006, our school became one of the advanced vocational schools in Beijing. It is equipped with advanced teaching facilities and experienced teachers. The specialties offered at the school include: Acrobatics, Dance, Fine Arts, Performance, Martial Art and so on. Students spend half of their time on study and the other half of their time on training or practice. Since its establishment foreign students from more than 10 countries and regions have enrolled in different subjects for study or short-term training programs. Currently students who come from Russia, South Korea, Australia, Mexico, etc, more than ten countries, are studying at our school. Foreign students are trained together with Chinese students, and mainly study the Chinese language in their academic courses. They are taught in small classes. Foreign students will be classified into different classes based on their Chinese language levels (we provide classes even for the absolute beginner). Besides Chinese lessons, other courses are offered, including: English, Math, Geography, History, and Computer course. The school organizes the test for Chinese language level (HSK) for foreign students every year. Before the test tutorial instructions are given to foreign students. Foreign students whose Chinese proficiency has reached HSK5 can study together with Chinese students depending on their needs or interests. The school has been praised by the sending countries, communities, school authorities as well as students and their parents for its training work with the foreign students. Foreign students trained at the school have had excellent achievements in international competitions. Chinese and foreign students of the school have won a total of 26 gold medals at home and abroad. Foreign students graduating from the school, meet the entry requirements for study at a Chinese colleges or universities both at specialty and Chinese language level.

  

Types of Training

1.       Diploma Program

Foreign students learn their specialties with Chinese students and they learn academic and culture lessons in small classes. Diploma program focuses on the teaching of the Chinese language to foreign students. HSK is included into the Diploma program and meanwhile there are also courses including: English, Math, History, Geography, Computer course and so on. Foreign students, whose Chinese level has reached HSK5 or more than 5 grades, want to study at Chinese colleges or universities, the school can arrange study with Chinese students based on their Chinese language levels. Foreign students who pass all the required relevant courses can get the certificate of graduation from Beijing International Arts School and be recommended to apply for study at Chinese universities.

The school organizes activities and sightseeing tours for foreign students each semester.

2.       Chinese Language Study Program

The length of study is one semester. The program is aimed at foreign students who have no Chinese language level or who are at a beginner level with a good attitude to learn. The Chinese learners are taught in an intensive, scientific and comprehensive manner using textbooks specially designed by the school and are given individual tutoring as requested.

3.       Short-term Training Program

The length of the short-term training is no less than 2 weeks. There are 4 classes per day. The students not only can learn Chinese language, but also can learn Chinese calligraphy, Folk dances or Martial art and so on. The school normally organizes sightseeing tours for foreign students such as shopping, city tours, and extra curricular activities. Sight-seeing trips to scenic spots such as the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Heaven Temple, Summer Palace, and Ethnic Park can be arranged according to students¡¯ requests.

4. Characteristic training

The Fine Arts speciality includes Chinese painting and calligraphy, which is especially establishes for foreign students. Our school plans to recruit 15 foreign students from all over the world every year. The duration of this speciality is three years. The arrangement of this curriculum: The calligraphy has seal character¡¢ regular ¡¢formal ¡¢cursive£»the painting contains delicate strokes of flowers and birds¡¢enjoyable flowers and birds¡¢landscape and the chronicle of fine art. Students can get the national grade certificate of painting and calligraphy after graduating. The teachers of this speciality have excellent qualification. In recent years, our school employs the middle-aged young painters who win the national prizes in last few years as teachers, and appoints the professors who come from China Central Art Academy and Beijing Art Academy to instruct teaching.

All foreign students who want to study the Chinese calligraphy and the Chinese painting or who want to know the Chinese culture could choose this speciality for study in our school.

   

Application for the Start Date of Study

The diploma program has two semesters each year. The first semester is from September 1st to the middle of January. The second semester starts at the end of February and ends during the middle of July. Foreign students are able to apply for enrollment in each semester.

The beginning of Chinese Language Study Program is according to the situation of recruit students and the requirements of foreign students.

Course schedules for Chinese language and Diploma programs from Monday to Friday are as following below:

6:30¡ª7:30, morning exercises

8:30¡ª12:00, major courses

13:30¡ª17:00, academic courses

19:30¡ª21:00, evening classes

Accommodations and Meals

All students are required to live at school from Sunday to Thursday because our school is a boarding school. Students who want to stay out at night on weekends can be allowed on condition that the school should be notified of the permission of the students¡¯ parents or guardians via fax.

Students have meals at the dining hall which provides both Chinese and western cuisine. Food is also provided for late-night snacks. There is a store on campus in which daily necessities, such as food and drinks are available.     

Application Process

1.     Fill in the Application Form for Admission to Beijing International Arts School (Application Form can be downloaded from our web page) and return it to the office for foreign students of our school by mail or in person along with the required supporting documents, application processing fee of 50 US dollars and a Visa Application for Study in China, also known as Form JW202 of 50 US dollars.

2.     Upon the receipt of the above requested application package, an Admission Letter along with Visa Application for Study in China, which is known as Form JW202, will be mailed to the accepted applicant after two weeks. The accepted applicant should bring the issued Form JW202 to apply for a Student Visa at a local Chinese Embassy or Consulate. Or the accepted applicant can go to China with visa (L) or visa (F), and then transact visa (X) and residence permit when you are enrolled in our school.

3.     Required documents:

1)       Completed Application Form for Admission to Beijing International Arts School;

2)       Copy of the applicant¡¯s passport;

3)       Copies of the passports of the applicant¡¯s parents if the applicant under 18 years;

4)       Applicant¡¯s Academic Tran and Certificate of Study at his or her latest school;

5)       Copies of the applicant¡¯s latest Academic Certificates;

6)       10 recent photos, each one is 2-inch with pale blue background;

7)       Tow pieces of the applicant¡¯s Guardian¡¯s Guarantee and Notarial Deed if the applicant under 18 years;

8)       A Power of Attorney and Notarial Deed which the guardian gets from the applicant¡¯s parents if the applicant under 18 years;

9)       An Authorized Physical Examination Record or Health Form (or do the Physical Examination after arriving in China)
